The ACO released a list of ten teams invited to compete in the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans yesterday. One team making headlines was Wayne Taylor Racing, along with fellow TUDOR United SportsCar team Scuderia Corsa.
A DP team with Le Mans dreams
There's just one issue with Taylor and it's the rather obvious fact that they run Daytona Prototypes, which are not eligible for competition in the iconic endurance race. Many dismissed Taylor after seeing the list, but Wayne and company are making waves now as it appears they are looking into a possible LMP2 effort.
Wayne Taylor confirmed the news to Motorsport.com, saying "We are interested in doing it and are right now working on partners in Europe, but nothing is final yet. I don't want to make a final decision until we explore every angle."
The structure of the LMP2 effort
The core group of people working on the LMP2 effort will be from the TUSC team, but they are reaching out to Europe in order to get the resources necessary with their race shop currently filled to the brim with everything DP.
Wayne also told this reporter that there are no plans to take part in any other event outside of Le Mans itself.
Both of the Taylor brothers took part in Le Mans this year with Ricky piloting a Morgan LMP2 Judd for Larbre Compétition and Jordan with the Corvette Racing factory GTE-Pro effort. It remains to be seen who will be part of the driver line-up, if this program does get off the ground.
