With a record-breaking 66-car field entered for the Easter weekend Production Car race, Class A1 is shaping up to provide a fascinating outright battle.

Defending winners Nathan Morcom and Supercars star Chaz Mostert will return to Mount Panorama, but have switched from a BMW to a Ford Focus RS. That is one of two RSs, with Klark Quinn and Andrew Waite set to campaign one of Ford’s hot hatches as well.

The Mercedes AMG A45 will be well-represented, with Garth Walden Racing assembling a two-car team. One will be raced by Walden and former Carrera Cup ace Craig Baird, while Ben Porter, Duvashen Padayachee, and Robert Woods will race the sister car.

Former Bathurst 12 Hour winner Rod Salmon will also campaign an A45, joined by Australian GT regular Nathan Antunes.

Brothers Iain and Grant Sherrin will lead the BMW charge with a brand new M4, while Luke Seattle, Paul Morris, and Barry Graham will race an M135i.

David Wall and John Bowe will team up in a Mitubishi Evo, as will Dylan Thomas and Supercars race winner Tim Slade. There will also be an Audi TT RS on the grid thanks to Tony Alford and Mark Eddy, while James Abela and former Formula Ford champ Cameron Hill will campaign a Subaru WRX STi.

A full list of drivers is expected later this week.
