The announcement of the support line-up for the season-opening Supercars round comes a day after disgruntled Australian GT organisers confirmed they'd been bumped from the schedule for the Asian-based one-make Audi series.

Local Audi GT3 teams are expected to help fill the Audi R8 LMS Cup Series grid, along with a number of crews travelling from Asia.

It will be the series' first visit to Australia, with this year's schedule featuring rounds in Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and China.

Former Mindardi F1 driver Alex Yoong is a three-time Audi R8 LMS Cup Series champion, while Belgian Alessio Picariello won this year's series ahead of Aussie Mitch Gilbert.

The streets of Adelaide will also host the first round of the new SuperUtes series, which features turbo diesel-powered SUVs and replaces the outgoing V8 Utes category.

Other supports on the Adelaide 500 bill include the second-tier Supercars series Super2, Porsche Carrera Cup, Touring Car Masters, Improved Production, and the Stadium Super Trucks from the US.

“The 20th anniversary of the Adelaide 500 will be a celebration of the past and the future, with fan favourites alongside new additions to the racing circuit,“ said South Australian Tourism Minister Leon Bignell.

“The anniversary edition is all about the fans – those who have loved and supported the event since its inception in 1999 as well as those who we hope will experience the event for the first time in 2018.“
