The 2015 Volkswagen Vento Cup season got underway today with the three practice session at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore.
Things got underway with the first practice session but unfortunately, times not could be recorded due to transponders not working properly.
However, times were recorded for the second and third practice session; Karminder Singh topped the second session with a time of 1m13:968 while Anindith Reddy was second merely 0.259s off.
Ishan Dodhiwala was third while Sailesh Bolisetti slotted in at fourth and Raghav Sharma completed the top five.
The bottom half of the top 10 had Prabhanjan Paruchuri sixth, Sidharth Balasundara seventh, Sahil Gahuri eighth, Pradeep Rao Vaidyam ninth and Rajeev Srivastava 10th.
The sister duo of Neha Dabas and Ria Dabas were 19th and 21st as they learn their craft driving in the competition for the first time.
The final session
In the final session of the day, Reddy went on top with a time of 1m14.075s as Bolisetti finished only 0.017s off the leader and Singh was third.
Dodhiwala was fourth as Paruchuri completed the top five. Balasundra was sixth, Vaidyam seventh, Raghav Sharma eighth, Gahuri ninth and Srivastava 10th.
Both Neha and Ria improved on their time by almost a second from the second session but finished 20th and 21st respectively.
The day also had the practice session for the JK Tyre single seater championship.
Qualifying of Vento Cup is slotted for 10:25 local time while race one will take place at 15:00 local time on Saturday.
The JK Tyre will have their qualifying at 11:10 local time and race one at 14:05 local time.
