CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 3, 2011) – NASCAR Sprint Cup point leader Carl Edwards moves into Texas Motor Speedway leading the Chase point standings for 21 weeks in 2011. In addition to his championship efforts, Edwards, who won the spring Nationwide event at Texas, will look to help move Roush Fenway Racing one (or two) step (s) closer to its historic 300th victory with another strong performance this weekend.

Roush Fenway needs only two victories to reach the milestone victory and another Texas two-step sweep like the one RFR posted in the spring would give the organization its 300th career NASCAR victory.

“I can’t believe Roush Fenway has won 298 NASCAR races,” said Edwards. “That’s amazing. I think it says a lot about Jack and our company. Jack is one of those guys that no matter how big this thing gets or how much success he has, he comes to the shop every day and he worries about the brakes and the down force and just the competition, and it’s neat to be a part of something like that.”

Edwards has contributed 62 victories to Roush Fenway’s total, including eight at Texas Motor Speedway. He does however, understand and appreciate the contributions of those who helped pave the way for a milestone such as 300 wins.

“It’s great to know that I have been able to benefit from all the guys that came before me and built this organization,” added Edwards.

Edwards will have two shots at victory lane this weekend at Texas first in the Nationwide race on Saturday and then in Sunday’s Sprint Cup event. Roush Fenway will field seven entries that will each vie for the opportunity this weekend.
