Following a rainy morning in Brno, the track dried up in time for the afternoon session.

As times gradually improved along with track conditions during the first half of the session, the factory Hondas of Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez soon took over the first two positions.

While the duo led the way by as much as six tenths at one point, Hector Barbera (Avintia Ducati) edged them out with just three minutes to go, soon before Danilo Petrucci (Pramac Ducati) took over.

However, Dovizioso lowered the benchmark by more than four tenths in the final minute, the Italian's 1m56.332s effort becoming the top time of the session.

Tech 3 Yamaha rider Jonas Folger lowered the gap to 0.398s with a last-second improvement, while Petrucci held on to third, 0.419s down on Dovizioso.

Johann Zarco on the second satellite Yamaha was fourth, ahead of Barbera and Scott Redding (Pramac Ducati).

Pedrosa dropped as low as seventh, followed by Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda), Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro and Marquez, the latter impressively saving his bike from crashing at the end.

The factory Yamahas of Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi were 11th and 14th, as Ducati's Jorge Lorenzo, who trialled a radical new fairing in the closing stages, was only 15th.

The only rider to crash was Aprilia's Sam Lowes, who fell at Turn 10.
