Here's our story on the Verstappen stewards' decision. And that's a wrap for today for the liveblog. Keep with Motorsport.com for all the fallout of a busy old day...

What a fun race that was!

So no race-related penalties then for Verstappen, but two days of "public service" at the FIA's behest. So maybe you'll see him in a florescent jacket at a kids' crossing soon!

It continues: "While sympathetic to Verstappen’s passion, the Stewards determined that it is the oligation of sportsmen at this level to act appropriately and as role models to other drivers at all levels and found that Verstappen failed in this respect."
The reasoning included: "The Stewards understood from Max Verstappen that he was

extremely upset by the incident on track during the race and accepted his explanation that it was not his origional intent to strike Ocon, but that he was “triggered” and caused him to loose [sic] his temper."

"Decision The Driver is required to perform two (2) days of public service at the direction of the FIA within six months of the incident. (Penalty under Art. 12.3.1.c of the FIA International Sporting Code)."

"Offence Breach of Article 12.1.1 c) of the FIA International Sporting Code."

The FIA report says...

"Fact The driver of car 33 made deliberate physical contact with the driver of car 31 in the FIA Garage."

Hearing that Toto Wolff also shot that conspiracy theory down in his press session too. More on that later...
When asked about that Marko quote, Christian Horner said: "I don't believe that there was any instruction. There's obviously history between the two drivers. But it was obviously just a very bad judgement call by Ocon."

Marko praised Verstappen's recovery drive to second, and branded Ocon an "idiot"...

"He lost 50 downforce points and still got closer. But that this fantastic drive is punished with such an idiocy is unbelievable. He had such a speed and was easy on the way - a pity! I don't understand it."

Re-winding to some comments made to Austrian TV station ORF by Red Bull's Helmut Marko straight after the chequered flag on the Verstappen/Ocon crash...

"A [lapped car], who is under contract with Mercedes, pushes the leader off the track. That's unbelievable! And then only ten seconds penalty... So I don't want to make any further comments, I've never seen anything like it before."

McLaren drivers Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne have both received points on their licences for ignoring blue flags while being lapped during the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Do you think they care?

A Red Bull representative remains with the FIA, with Charlie Whiting now.
Verstappen has dived back into the Red Bull garage, while Ocon continued up towards Force India.
Hearing that they shook hands in the paddock after the meeting.

Here's what the stewards will be reflecting upon...

He might not have won, but here's the next best thing for Max...

David Coulthard went on to win that race after he passed Michael Schumacher – with the help of a backmarker!
And here's the constructors' points, with Mercedes confirmed as champions once again.
