Triple Eight Race Engineering with Collins Contractors head to the Rockingham Motor Speedway near Corby this coming weekend for the latest three rounds of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). With just nine races remaining of this season’s 30-race series the team and lead driver James Nash are in contention for four of the series’ championship awards.

Vauxhall turbo driver Nash, 25 is determined to make up for points lost last time out at Knockhill where he failed to score in the third race after becoming innocent victim of one of the meeting’s more controversial moments. Had points been scored both the Milton Keynes-based driver and the team would now be leading the Independent standings instead of being a very close second in each.

James Nash: “Rockingham is where the Championship really comes alive with only nine races left. I’m just a few points behind last years’ overall Champion Jason Plato and while I think catching either of the two works Hondas (Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal) is unlikely now, it is still not impossible”.

“My best chance of silverware though has got to be in the Independent Award where it looks like it is going to be a three-way fight for the driver’s title between Mat Jackson, me and Andrew Jordan. Mat had a bad meeting last time out but we’ve all had those this season. I’ve worked very hard to get here and most certainly I’m not going to let it slip now.”

Ian Harrison, Chairman Triple Eight: “ We’ve arrived at the business end of the Championship. These final nine races are going to decide everything. James has driven really well this season and even better, he’s still improving. The fact that we’re still in with a shout on all fronts is testament to that and of course, to the quality of the team behind him.

“Rockingham being a mix of slow technical corners and high speed straights is a tricky circuit to get right. We tested here earlier in the year and have won here four-times in the past so we do know the place pretty well. With a bit of luck and a tail wind there’s no reason why we can’t add to that tally this weekend.”
