For his third straight season in Super Trofeo Asia, Ebrahim has switched camps, having left Dilango Racing for a full-season’s drive with Italian squad FFF Racing.
The first race was largely unspectacular for the Indo-British duo, who managed a seventh place finish after a drive through penalty ended any chances of a top-five result.
However, fortunes turned around in the second race; Bartholomew made a good start from seventh on the grid, immediately gaining a place to move up to sixth.
From there on, he held on to the back of X-One Racing Team’s Andrew Haryanto, but failed to find a way past the Indonesian.
Sensing that an on-track pass might be difficult, the British driver handed over the car to Ebrahim as soon as the pit window was open.
The undercut worked, allowing Ebrahim to jump past the X-One Racing entry.
Now in clean air, the 27-year-old started charging up the field, eventually passing teammate Carrie Schreiner to take third and claim the final spot on the podium.
“I am happy with the way we tackled this weekend,” Ebrahim said. “It’s great to finish on the podium, especially given all our woes today,” he added.
Meanwhile, at the front, GDL’s Pro-Am team of Rig Farmer and Nigel Breukers won the opening race, while the Clazzio duo of Kei Cozzolino and Afiq Yazid triumphed in the second race.
