In preparation for the Le Mans 24 Hour race, at the official test today Archie Hamilton (22, Basingstoke) drove the Oreca 03 Nissan in which he will contest the main event.
Archie put in the ten laps required for him to be able to race. He covered 18 laps in the car during the wet morning session and the G Drive Racing by Delta-ADR team was happy with his performance.A further free practice session will be held on Wednesday 19th June followed by a qualifying session that night. Thursday 20th June sees a further two qualifying sessions with the 24 hour race starting on Saturday 22nd June.
Archie Hamilton: “Today was about getting the laps in that we all needed to complete to enable us to compete at the race in two weeks time and keeping the car in good shape. There is nothing to be gained by going all out and crashing on a test day on a wet track.
My stint in the rain wasn’t ideal and conditions were hard but I’m happy that I did what was needed and I’m that I’ve now got the experience in the wet here.
It could be that the practices before the race are dry so to have some experience in the wet under my belt going into the race is a good thing. Even with all that I felt comfortable with the car straight away.”
