Saavedra Qualfies 22nd For Honda Indy 200
Conquest Racing driver Sebastian Saavedra put the No. 34 car 22nd on the grid for Sunday’s 85-lap Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The 21-year-old pilot turned a best lap time of 69.71 seconds during knockout qualifying in the Conquest Racing Bogota es Mundial car.
Mid-Ohio is the third road/street course event in a row for the series and the seventh of nine on this year's schedule. This will be Saavedra’s first time racing an IndyCar on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn permanent road circuit where he finished 5th last year in Firestone Indy Lights.
The 50-year-old natural-terrain course is a challenging one, with elevation changes and both flowing and tight corners. The narrow race track makes passing challenging, as last year’s race demonstrated with only four lead changes.

"That was a tough qualifying session. The rain seemed to be coming quick, but we knew we had a good car. We went a bit conservative, which hurt us as we took a different strategy. We've done a great job to put a very good race car together so I’m not concerned about this. I’m looking forward to a long race and lots of passing."
