Kuno Wittmer aiming for victory at Sebring 12 Hours

Championship. The race marks the 62nd Anniversary of the 12 Hours of Sebring, the classic race run at the redone WW2 bomber airport about one hour south of Orlando, Florida.

Montreal, March 10, 2014 – Kuno Wittmer and the SRT Motorsports team will represent Chrysler in the grueling endurance event, running in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class against teams from major manufacturers of Grand Touring cars such as Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin and BMW.

After a strong showing in the opening round of the Tudor Championship at Daytona in January, the SRT Motorsports Team is aiming for pole position and a win in the GTLM class at Sebring. Kuno Wittmer knows how hard he and the other drivers and technical team worked to prepare for Sebring. “Everyone on the team pushed hard after our positive results at the last race. I train every day and we have spent days on our race simulator in Toronto and more days testing at Sebring a few weeks ago. This is the toughest race of the season on the cars and the drivers and we are ready to win!”

Both SRT Viper GTS-R team cars ran competitively in the opening round of the Tudor Championship at the Daytona 24 Hours event last January. Kuno’s No. 93 Viper took the third place on the grid and led the race for the first few hours, until it ran into a few mechanical issues and dropped to 6th at the finish. The No. 91 sister car qualified on pole and finished 3rd after a race-long all-out sprint run, ending up a handful of seconds behind the winner.

Kuno feels that the competition will be tougher at Sebring. “Every team has analyzed their Daytona performance and worked at making their cars quicker and tougher for Sebring, the bumpiest track of the year and a harsh test for both the car and for the drivers’ ability to endure the physical punishment and still put in error-free competitive times. Our Viper is solid and we know we will be in the middle of the fight for the win right to the end.”
