Kevin Estre has just signed a contract as a factory McLaren GT driver for 2014 after a season in which the Frenchman has racked up a string of successes at the wheel of different grand touring cars including the 12C GT3 made by the British manufacturer, holder of 20 Formula 1 world titles.

The icsport management driver knows that he has taken a big step up in his career: “my aim was to become a works driver when I decided to focus on a career in GT racing. I’m delighted and very honoured at the trust placed in me by Martin Whitmarsh (McLaren Group CEO) and Andrew Kirkaldy (McLaren GT managing director). Achieving this status with a manufacturer like McLaren is extremely prestigious when you know what the manufacturer has contributed to motor sport. They build fantastic cars and they’ve got great projects for the future!”

In 2013, Kevin Estre showed just how quick he is plus his capacity to manage a meeting and a championship as well as his ability to adapt to cars of very different designs. He won the German Porsche Carrera Cup title and scored a total of 13 outright victories. His last three weekends’ racing of the season resulted in eight top-3 finishes in eight events, including five wins at the wheel of three very different cars. His stunning performance at the wheel of the Hexis Racing McLaren in the FIA GT Series final in the streets of Baku really made people sit up and take notice. “I set good times and I made some great comebacks without committing any errors. The contacts with McLaren GT began less than a week after the race.”

The two day test held by Pirelli on the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit gave Kevin the opportunity to get to know the McLaren 12C GT3 better. His 2014 programme will be announced in the next few weeks. “I’d really like to thank all those who have supported me since my debut in racing. I’m sure that we’ll share some very exciting moments in 2014 with McLaren GT.”
