Both On The Racetrack And On The Web
Scuderia Coloni landed yesterday in Kuala Lumpur and then the team headed to Sepang, the track that from Friday to Sunday will host the first round of the 2012 GP2 Season. At the Sepang International Circuit the team’s work started early today, as the staff had to open the crates containing cars and equipment. It’s something that happens only for the overseas races, where the trucks don’t leave the factory and all the materials are moved by air freight, a bit of additional work that anyway allows a quick travel over very long distances. The technical staff was joined by the drivers today: Fabio Onidi and Stefano Coletti made the most of the days between the last testing session and the races to relax a bit and complete their training: the driver from Monaco underwent an heavy physical training routine in Kenya, while Onidi focused on gym work and some driving sessions at the team’s simulator. For both drivers the aim is to confirm the great performances boasted throughout the whole six days of pre-season testing, an amazing pace that means that the whole team is on a high, ready to give their best in the Malaysian outing.
The new season will also bring more news for the fans, who will be able to follow the team’s result from a brand new website, www.scuderiacoloni.com, and interact with the staff and the drivers through both the newly opened Facebook page, that can be reached at www.facebook.com/ScuderiaColoni, and Twitter account (www.twitter.com/ScuderiaColoni). Exclusive imagery, drivers’ impressions and much more will be published daily, so make sure to pay us a visit!
Paolo Coloni: “We’re coming from an impressive season that gave us the runner-up spot with 3 wins in the last four events. In order to keep the same amazing level of performance we worked hard during the winter: while our engineers were focused on developing the car setup, our drivers passed many hours driving our simulator, trying different solutions on different tracks. The pre-season testing days were our first opportunity to see where we are compared to the competition and the outcome gave us a lot of confidence. We have two strong drivers that get along well with each other, as they already raced together in the past, and a top-notch technical staff. On the other hand we know that all the other teams will work hard to beat us, so our task won’t be an easy one. But you can be sure, we’ll push as hard as we can”.
