News in depth
Garett Grist put Schmidt Peterson Motorsports on top on the final day of the Chris Griffis Memorial test on Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, as Victor Franzoni topped Pro Mazda times and Neil Verhagen starred in USF2000.
Garett Grist has switched teams and also graduated from Pro Mazda to Indy Lights with immediate effect, replacing Scott Hargrove in the #3 Team Pelfrey car.
Team Pelfrey kept up its perfect win record in Pro Mazda thanks to “Pato” O’Ward’s victory at IMS, but a slip by teammate and prime championship rival Aaron Telitz broke Pelfrey’s string of 1-2s.
Unsurprisingly, Barber Motorsports Park’s first Pro Mazda race of the weekend was all about Team Pelfrey, but it took an opportunistic move on a restart to send Patricio O’Ward past teammate and polesitter Aaron Telitz.
For some, it's a first.
Before the 98th Indianapolis 500 gets underway, there's plenty of other racing events to help a fan get their fill before the 'main event.'
