Rain stole a shot from Edwards to be in the final four last year at Phoenix, but now it does just the opposite one year later at Texas.
IT'S OVER: Carl Edwards wins at Texas and advances into the Championship 4.
Pit road is open and most of the leaders stay out. Johnson, Larson, Keselowski, Blaney, Bowman among those who pit.
Less than 50 to go and there is rain very close to the track.
Kurt Busch got the free pass, but will be held a lap for pitting twice and re-fueling. He's now being held a lap.
Dillon claims the only reason he got loose was because Harvick sucked down on his door "tighter than anyone did all night."
Dillon on Harvick: "Silver spoon was outrunning him tonight."
The grass just obliterated the front of Mears' car in that wreck.
Harvick gets into the back of Dillon who slams the wall! Mears and Scott crash behind them...
"It would be dangerous to start this race," Edwards jokes.
Carl Edwards takes the lead from Martin Truex Jr. off pit road!
Austin Dillon has spun! He was trying to cut under Elliott for 3rd and cut across Ragan's nose.
Austin Dillon is trying to take 3rd from Chase Elliott. The surprise pole-sitter has been strong throughout this entire race.
Kurt Busch becomes the first Chaser to fall off the lead lap in this race ... He is running 17th.
Truex stretched out his lead through that round of stops ... 1.4s between them.
Wow! Edwards got alongside Truex and made a split-second decision to follow him down pit road. That was a crucial move.
Chase Elliott has taken 3rd, but all eyes are on the battle for the race lead.
Edwards has moved up closer to the wall, trying to find a way by the #78.
