NASCAR Cup Dover II

NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup - Dover

Live Text

Thanks for watching and reading. That's a wrap. See you next week

It's sad to see Stewart eliminated from the Chase so early in his final season, but he gave it everything today..
Eliminated from the Chase:
Tony Stewart - Stewart-Haas Racing
Kyle Larson - Chip Ganassi Racing
Jamie McMurray - Chip Ganassi Racing
Chris Buescher - Front Row Motorsports

1. Truex
2. Busch
3. Elliott
4. Keselowski
5. Kenseth
6. Logano
7. Johnson
8. Dillon
9. Hamlin
10. Gordon (first of the non-Chase cars)
11. Stenhouse Jr.
12. Kahne
13. Stewart (eliminated from the Chase).
14. Edwards
15. Kurt Busch

Truex wins! After leading 187 laps and driving like a master. That was an absolute clinic in the second half of the race.
There's a fight brewing over third place as Keselowski is only half a second behind Elliott.
Johnson trying to unlap himself from Truex on track. There are 9 laps to go.

With Buescher and the Ganassi pair likely to be eliminated, the fourth car struggling to stay in the Chase is Stewart. He's right into  the danger zone.

(Cue dreadful Kenny Loggins guitar-work)

Johnson moves past Dillon into 7th. Leading the one lap down brigade.
As the pitstops cycle through, Truex holds a 9sec lead over Busch, with Elliott up to third ahead of Keselowski, Kenseth, Logano – only guys on the lead lap. All the rest have been mashed by the Truex Machine.
Due to short pitting, Logano has un-lapped himself for the moment.
Ragan caught speeding, but no mistakes from the contenders.
Jeff Gordon leads for the first time today during the cycle of pit stops.
12.4sec stop for Elliott, one of the few cars still on the lead lap.
Five, I repeat five cars on the lead lap as Logano becomes Truex's next victim.
Truex is now 10sec ahead of Busch who is now hitting the traffic that artificially restricted the #78's pace
Without doubt, Johnson is the upside of a rather soporific race. Dover races are normally far more entertaining than this.
Jimmie Johnson has driven past Edwards to move into the top 10. Next target is Hamlin in 9th
Austin Dillon, running SEVENTH, joins Gordon, Hamlin and Edwards as the latest drivers lapped by Martin Truex Jr.'s rocket ship.
Props too, to the #18 team. Busch had been complaining about the handling of his car on the previous stint; but he's now matching Truex's lap times, albeit 6sec behind. He is also 6sec ahead of Keselowski.
Hamlin has been all over Gordon but now has the #78 between them
Edwards has been lapped, taking the free pass from Johnson for the moment.
Logano is ahead of Dillon now, and Dillon is under pressure from Gordon.
Johnson has made his way up to 11th and is now the first car one lap down.
Gordon is trying hard to separate Logano from seventh place.
