20 laps to go until the end of the first stage.
Stenhouse, still pushed by Harvick, is leading the outside groove
The six-car Gibbs/Hendrick medley train has pulled clear.
Ryan Blaney, the only Ford in that inside train, pulls to the outside.
But that strategic play has certainly worked to their mutually beneficial advantage.
This might be the time to casually mention that Rick Hendrick is a Toyota dealer as well as a Chevy man...
Kyle Busch is dragging along Hamlin and Bowman. Stenhouse leads the outside lane, but it seems like it isn't as strong as the inside.
Kyle Busch hits the front up from 31st
The inside lane is hauling to the front!
And there we go!
The inside lane is Kyle Busch, Hamlin, Bowman, Erik Jones, Byron and Elliott.
Breaking news
Hmmm, I see Hendrick and Gibbs cars lining up on the inside...
Is this the start of the 'follow my leader' phase?
But that effort fragments, so they jump to the outside.
Logano is getting that inside lane going, though. He has help from Penske teammate Keselowski.
Kurt Busch makes a move on Logano for fifth.
Seven Fords in the top eight positions.
The spotters are earning their corn behind the top 10. Plenty of "inside", "outside" and "middle".
Three-wide further back!
Behind the inside lane, it's really messy, and the pack is splintering into two groups.
Kurt Busch is the first non-Ford in sixth.
Stenhouse leads Harvick, Almirola and Bowyer. It's a Fordfest out front.
Plenty of action behind.
And cuts across to the inside, ahead of Harvick.
Stenhouse jumps clear.
Green flag
They restart with Harvick on the inside, and Stenhouse leading the outside lane.
One to go until the restart.
Penalty
Corey Lajoie likewise.
Penalty
Daniel Hemric pitted too soon.
Penalty
Michael McDowell is too fast entering pit road.
That round of stops has very much shuffled the pack.
Pit stop
Pitstops for the leaders. "Four tires" seems to be the strategy.
Lajoie's blown tire appears to have lanced through his front fender (and therefore his right ear)
Quote
"Tight or getting tighter?" Denny Hamlin is asked. He replies: "Tight and getting tighter."
Yellow flag
Caution is for Corey Lajoie, whose massive face on his car looks like it blew out a tire.
