NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup - Chicagoland

Live Text

So that's a wrap for our live text update of the start of the Chase. We'll be back next week for more, but keep up to date with all the reaction on Motorsport.com from our team in the paddock.

Thanks for joining us. Bye!

Truex: "What can I say? This feels good. We've got more races to win. I'm a lucky guy to get to drive this black #78. This is the way we wanted to start, it feels awesome.

"After the tire went down, it was 'just keep digging' We were lucky it happened early. Then Harvick ran into me, I think on purpose."

Truex is stoked. Quite rightly. That was a tough comeback race after his early puncture while leading.

Johnson recovered from that speeding penalty to salvage 12th. Edwards slumped to 15th on that final restart. Larson and Harvick were 18th and 20th respectively.

Buescher was the worst-placed Chaser, in 28th.

Blaney's gamble gave him fourth, a stout result. Keselowski was fifth, ahead of Hamlin, Kahne, Kyle Busch, Kenseth and Bowman.

Great restart from Logano, he was the man on the move in the latter stages. He took second, ahead of Elliott – who you have to feel for.

If that caution hadn't occurred, the rookie would have won. Surely.

It's not rolled far, he's back in it and on the way to Victory Lane.
Truex blows kisses to the crowd. Now, how about that car?

Obligatory donuts performed, Truex takes the plaudits of the crowd.

He runs away from his car, which has rolled away!

The #78 has lost some races this year, but this is one that they won as a team.
Logano finishes second, from Elliott, Blaney and Keselowski.

Here we go then, it's crunch time!

We are in overtime. Green, green, green!

So Johnson dominated this race, then lost out due to a pitroad speeding penalty. Then Elliott dominated, but will take the final (maybe!) restart fifth...
Edwards has rolled the dice, and will start third ahead of Truex and Elliott.
The race will restart with non-Chasers Blaney and Kahne out front.
Larson's decision to pit has proved costly. He's 18th now.
Guess what. Harvick was not in the Free Pass position again. Stewart gets the Free Pass for the second time today.
Caution is out! The #95's right-front blows!
