Action Express leads opening practice at Sebring

The 31 Corvette DP topped the time charts in Thursday's 60-minute session, with Cameron reeling off a best lap of 1min52.447sec, writes Sportscar365.

It was 0.779 seconds quicker than the sister No. 5 Action Express entry, driven by Scott Pruett. Pruett also climbed aboard the No. 31 car during the session and is listed to drive in both this weekend.

The Rolex 24-winning No. 2 Tequila Patron ESM Ligier JS P2 Honda of Johannes van Overbeek was third quickest overall, leading a train of P2 cars that completed the top-five. Ozz Negri's Michael Shank Racing Ligier Honda was fourth, with the new DragonSpeed Oreca 05 Nissan, in its debut, fifth.

CORE autosport was quickest in Prototype Challenge, thanks to a 1:55.469 lap by Colin Braun in the No. 54 Oreca FLM09.

All PC cars this weekend debut an electronics and upgraded engine package, following an initial rollout from the CORE and JDC-Miller Motorsports squads last month.

BMW Team RLL held control of GT Le Mans, with Dirk Werner quickest in the No. 25 BMW M6 GTLM. Werner's 1:59.327 lap was some three-tenths quicker than the pair of Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSRs, with fast times set by Fred Makowiecki and Kevin Estre.

GT Daytona, meanwhile, was led by the No. 33 Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper GT3-R of Jeroen Bleekemolen. He outpaced a largely Audi R8 LMS- and Porsche 911 GT3 R-dominated affair at the top of the time sheets in the Pro-Am class.

The session saw only a single red flag, when Katherine Legge's DeltaWing ground to a halt in Turn 17. The car returned to action shortly after.

Forty eight of the 49 cars set times, with only the No. 11 Change Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 not taking to the track this morning.

The second of three practice sessions is set to get underway at 2:25 p.m. ET.
