Battle for second remains close, but Ricky Taylor has built a small gap out front.

Back racing with 4hrs and 45mins left in the IMSA season finale.

HALFWAY in the 2026 edition of Petit Le Mans, and we're behind the safety car as this race crosses the five-hour mark.

So, here's what happened as it was a bit of chain reaction: At the top of the hill before the final corner, the #912 Manthey Porsche was to the inside of the #66 Gradient Ford, and they collided. The #66 was knocked into the path of the #16 Myers Riley Ford, destroying their left-front. All three cars were wounded and had to limp back around, with the #66 ultimately coming to a stop.

FULL-COURSE CAUTION: The #66 Gradient Ford is stuck in the grass. They were involved in the incident with the Myers Riley Ford.

Ricky Taylor leads overall in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Cadillac.

Things have felt far more chaotic after the lightning delay, that's for sure.

Felipe Fraga in the Myers Riley No. 16 Ford has significant left-front damage. Not sure what happened there. He is trying to drive it back to the pits

Back racing at Road Atlanta with just over five hours to go.

Ah there it is, bouncing through the grass on the backstretch. Crews have retrieved it.

Uh, Mathias Beche in the TDS Racing #11 LMP2 has lost a right-front wheel...not sure where the wayward wheel has ended up.

Palou was fresh out of the pits on cold tires and Magnussen came upon him very fast there. Nasty wreck, and could have been even worse. KMag radioed something about his feet as well, and gingerly climbed from the wreckage of that BMW.

The No. 93 remains on track, bit with a twisted up rear-end.

Replay of that dramatic incident between KMag and Palou:

FULL COURSE CAUTION: Magnussen's car jumped up off the ground after running into the back of Palou's car, and then crashed hard into the barrier.

HUGE CRASH...Kevin Magnussen has crashed hard after contact with Alex Palou!

PENALTY -- No. 93 hit with a drive-through for colliding with his teammate in the No. 60 while battling for the lead. Brutal.

Van Der Zande made a dive on Braun at 10a and both Meyer Shank Acuras ended up in the dirt, but they were very fortunate to keep the cars straight. They remain 1-2.

Battle for the lead and the Meyer Shank  teammates have collided at Turn 10! OH MY...

PENALTY: No. 1 BMW for causing the incident with the No. 59 McLaren. Drive-through.

Colin Braun enjoying a decent lead over his teammate, but Van Der Zande is starting to chip away at it

Wild moment between Andlauer and Vanthoor as they make contact in the run up the hill before Turn 12. They got away with it, though.

Johnson limping around the track slowly, and that car is crab-walking with a broken right-rear toe link.

Looks like the McLaren got tagged from behind, with the No. 1 BMW spinning as well.

Nikita Johnson in the No. 59 RLL McLaren has gone off into a barrier! He's back rolling now, so we stay green...

Going to want to keep an eye on the handful of teams who did take slick tires. Still quite damp out there.

Few gamblers here as we're seeing a lot of wet tires brought out into the pit lane.

Pit road is open, and here comes the field...

Thankfully, that wasn't a very long wait.

Cars are rolling off pit road, back under full-course yellow.

Teams have to pay close attention to driving times now, and the lightning clock has 30 minutes on it before any activity can resume, and that's if there's no more lightning strikes nearby.

And remember, they're still awarding endurance points at Hour 4 in a few minutes, and then again at Hour 8.

So, now is a good time to take a break (as we will), but we'll keep you updated when the race resumes.

The field comes down pit road with 6hrs and 20mins left.

RED FLAG! The race is being halted due to lightning, but remember, the time keeps clicking away...

PENALTY: No. 11 TDS Racing Oreca for passing under yellow ... that'll be a drive-through

Rough moment for United Autosports, as they are both stuck.

Two LMP2 cars have collided and spun on the restart! The No. 2 and No. 22....they are teammates!

Back racing with 6hrs and 30mins to go, and lots of spray.
