GTP: The #6 Porsche Penske of L.Vanthoor takes the chequered flag ahead of #24 BMW of S.Van der Linde and #40 Cadillac of L.Deletraz.
Final lap! Wow—it's not over yet.
Coming up on TWO LAPS REMAINING!
How the #6 got the lead minutes ago:
Top two overall are less than a second apart, with #24 BMW of S.Van der Linde hounding #6 Porsche of L.Vanthoor.
5mins remaining, the Porsches of #911 T.Preining and #77 H.King are fighting over 2nd in class.
Car #23: Penalty - Incident Responsibility with #31 - Drive Through for the GTP Aston Martin Valkyrie, from 4th — this will destroy their top 5 result.
Green flag! 10 minutes remaining.
After 10 hours of racing, we're about to have ~10 minutes of qualifying laps up and down the field as the final minutes of the 2026 IMSA season tick down…
Likely #23 Aston Martin and #31 Cadillac had contact, sending the #31 off the track with significant rear bodywork damage. Still lapping / circulating under yellow.
#31 Cadillac of E.Bamber off into the barriers! Yet another full course yellow.
IMSA issued warnings for the #77 Porsche of H.King (incident responsibility) and #14 Lexus B.Barnicoat (powertrain parameters)– no penalties issued as of yet
How class leaders stand with just over 20 minutes remaining:
GTP: #6 Porsche of L.Vanthoor
LMP2: #04 Crowdstrike Racing with A.Quinn
GTD Pro: #68 Aston Martin of M.Drudi
GTD: #57 Mercedes with P.Ellis
9hrs 30mins down, less than 30mins to go…
Before the #21 had to pit, this was one of the best battles on track for the GTD class lead:
As part of this battle in GTD Pro, the #14 Lexus of B.Barnicoat appears to be running wounded, with either a mechanical issue or is struggling with low grip as it falls to 3rd in class, soon to be 4th.
Battle for GTD Pro lead is heading up, with the top four cars nearly nose to tail at less than 2 seconds apart, wow.
Up front, the battle remains between #6 Porsche and the #24 BMW, circulating less than 2 seconds behind.
#57 Mercedes of P.Ellis and #21 L.Wadoux battling hard for the GTD lead, with Ellis sneaking through to take the class lead.
LMP2 leaders are pitting earlier in their window, with several teams anticipating more yellow flags — is fuel saving the way to go?
Now #24 BMW of S.Van der Linde into the overall lead—top three in GTP are within 2 seconds of each other, slicing through traffic in a series of high-risk, heartstopping moves. #6 Porsche retakes the point.
More on the F.Nasr incident:
L.Vanthoor back to the lead — something happened off-camera, #31 E.Bamber in the Cadillac remains second.
Bamber is flying — already stretches a 0.5-second lead and growing.
#6 L.Vanthoor briefly off-track on cold tires out of the pit lane, and goes off again as the #31 Cadillac of E.Bamber slips past — for the overall lead
GTPs filtering into pit lane, making their final planned stops of the 2026 season.
Class leaders with about 50 minutes to go:
GTP: #6 L.Vanthoor, Porsche
LMP2: #22 P.Di Resta
GTD Pro: #14 B.Barnicoat, Lexus
GTD: #21 L.Wadoux, Ferrari
A replay for what triggered the last FCY.
#6 Porsche Penske of L.Vanthoor makes a huge pass in T12, passing #10 Cadillac for the overall lead!
#70 Inception Racing Ferrari spun by another Ferrari in class, continues—no penalties…yet. Miraculously, didn't collect any of the 1/2 dozen cars flashing by
Back to green! 1hrs 4mins remaining. #60 Acura pits for service
Crews are still tending to the cars off-track. Expecting to go green within the next few minutes. You know what they say, cautions make cautions…
At this point, the championships in LMP2, GTD Pro, and GTD are far from decided. Tons of racing left to go with more than 1hrs 10mins remaining
Replay shows the #64 Ford of D.Olsen got into the #4, sending it off-track. 💥
#6 of L.Vanthoor passes #31 E.Bamber – and the camera pans to the #4 Corvette in the gravel – and a new all-time record of 15 FCY! As well as the #99 AO Racing LMP2 car AND the PR1/Matheson #52 of H.Tinknell.
No idea how they ended up on the beach at Road Atlanta. Yikes!
About to go green? About to go green! 1hrs 19mins to go
