The Indian outfit sits third in the championship, having secured its maiden podium in Beijing courtesy of highly-experienced new recruit Nick Heidfeld.

This was followed by a double points-finish at Putrajaya, meaning Mahindra is only behind season one champions Renault e.dams and current championship leader Audi Sport Abt.

"From a team perspective, the opening races have been positive," Senna said ahead of the Punta ePrix.

"The car feels much better to drive than last year and the team has done a great job preparing a package and race strategy that has allowed us to compete at the front.

"I think it’s clear that the team is capable of scoring high points and more podium finishes like we had in Beijing," he added.

"This year we have a car and a set up that allows us to compete.

"Performances like that in Putrajaya gives me confidence that we have the right mix of reliability and race pace and with a clean weekend on my side of the garage, we will fully exploit that potential."

Team principal Dilbagh Gill echoed his driver's sentiments, adding: "The planning for this season started a long time back and the results so far show that we made the right technical and engineering decisions early on and that has paid off."

For the second season, Mahindra moved from Carlin to Campos Racing, the outfit which helped NEXTEV's Nelson Piquet Jr to clinch the drivers' title in the inaugural campaign.

For round three at Punta, the team will have Formula Renault 3.5 champion Oliver Rowland slotting in for injured Heidfeld.

The highly-rated British young driver has had his seat fitting at the factory last week and is all set to take on his new challenge.
