Panis completes Arden Formula V8 3.5 line-up
Arden Motorsport has signed French driver Aurelien Panis for the upcoming Formula V8 3.5 campaign.
Panis, son of Formula 1 Grand Prix winner Olivier, will line up alongside the previously announced Egor Orudzhev.
Like Orudzhev, Panis was a rookie in last year's Formula Renault 3.5 season, running with Tech 1 Racing and ending the season 12th overall.
Prior to his FR3.5 switch, he had spent three years in Formula Renault 2.0, finishing ninth in the Eurocup in 2014 and enjoying a brief stint as a junior driver for the now-defunct F1 team Caterham.
“To have been selected by Arden Motorsport for this new season in Formula V8 3.5 makes me very happy,” said Panis.
“After a learning season in FR3.5, I am proud to work with a team which has demonstrated their strengths and successes in the past few years.
“This season, the goal will be to always to fight at the top, to be consistent throughout the season and fight for the wins and for the championship.”
British squad Arden first entered FR3.5 in a tie-in with Caterham back in 2012 and has since finished second, fourth, third and fifth in the teams' standings.
“We have been following [Aurelien's] career closely since we were associated with Caterham and so was he,” said Arden team boss Julian Rouse.
“He has progressed a lot over the last couple of years and is developing into a very talented young driver.
“Now with a strong rookie season in the V8 car under his belt the objective will be to challenge for race wins.”
