In fact, the early running is enticing a great number of drivers - just Ocon, de Vries, Russell and Piastri missing.

Off we go! Both Alfa Romeos are out early, joined by the Astons and Magnussen.
The new track surface at Miami was causing a few slips and slides as it rubbers in. Over time it should come towards the drivers, even if off-line things will remain tricky.

Confirmation from Haas that Hulkenberg is Hulkenback for FP2:

This time last week we were going into qualifying for the grand prix in Baku, but here we're back to old faithful FP2. It won't be as exciting but it will feel far more familiar.
Also in FP1 Hulkenberg crashed at Turn 3 to trigger a brief red flag, so the Haas mechanics have been busy in the break repairing the German's car. But all should be present and correct this session.
Just in case you missed first practice, here's a quick recap: Russell led a Mercedes 1-2, despite missing a chunk of track time with a steering issue. In truth, both Mercs went on to the softs very late and benefitted from the best track conditions.
