Here we go again for Q2!
The rest of Q2 has been trimmed to a round nine minutes. Those six seconds are gone forever.
Perez is making his way back to the pits on foot, which will be a long way around at Turn 3. Plenty of time to get his thoughts together.

Q2 will get going again at 4:43pm local time - so in four minutes.
Perez's front wing was wedged in the barrier so when his Red Bull was freed it snapped off in the process. That's Montreal's souvenir now.
Q2 was stopped with 9m06s to go, so plenty of time for more laps when the session gets going again. Zhou, Magnussen, Ricciardo, Norris and Leclerc are all in the drop zone - albeit the Ferrari driver probably won't head out again due to his penalty.
So, both those offs for Albon and Perez were near-identical, snatching a front brake on the inters in the low-grip conditions. Albon was able to fight another day, but Perez is being dug out of the barriers.
Red flag
Red flag - Perez can't get going again. That's his qualifying done.
Perez does an Albon moments later at Turn 3, but his hit is much faster and he's stuck in the barrier.
Albon has gone off at Turn 6, nudging the wall with his front wing after locking his intermediate tyres. He's able to get going again without too much trouble.
The Q1 incident involving Sainz rejoining the track at Turn 3 has been noted by the race stewards - no investigation yet.

"It's definitely on the crossover. It's very close," Hamilton says over team radio. He's also thinking about the inters, while Sainz and Perez head out on the in between tyre.
Magnussen, Schumacher, Albon, Ocon and Alonso are on the green-walled tyres with everyone else still on the blue full wets.

Time to go for Q2! Just like the first session, lots of drivers heading out early, with some on intermediates.

"What was that, so different to this morning, just no grip, it felt like it was broken, ah man!" Vettel lets out his frustration over team radio.
Out in Q1: P16 Gasly, P17 Vettel, P18 Stroll, P19 Latifi, P20 Tsunoda.
And Vettel can't! He's out along with his team-mate Stroll. That's a bit of a surprise given how well the Aston Martins were going in FP3.
Vettel has got one more lap to get out of the drop zone. He needs to find half a second.

Now or never time, and for Gasly it is never, as he is out in the bottom five.
Yellow flag
Sainz runs on at Turn 3 and has to engage reverse in his Ferrari which brings out the yellow flags.

Verstappen has gone quickest again with a 1m32.219s. He'll be comfortably into Q2 with that.
In the drop zone with 90 seconds to go: Vettel, Albon, Latifi, Tsunoda and Stroll.

"What the main limitation?" Verstappen is asked over team radio. "A free track" is his reply. It's rush hour in Montreal.
Into the business end of the session, as Tsunoda pits to end his day early. The AlphaTauri driver has a grid penalty to serve today so that could be that.
Latifi, on his home debut, locks up at Turn 1 and runs on. He needs to find a fair chunk of time to escape Q1, as he is currently last and 1.8s off.
The same can be said of Bottas, who briefly goes fastest of all, before being displaced by Verstappen, Russell and Hamilton. A dry line is appearing on track which will give the drivers confidence to keep pushing.

Magnussen goes quickest with a 1m34.893s which is a very impressive lap in the circumstances.
All drivers have set a lap time now, and in the drop zone is Bottas, Leclerc, Stroll, Latifi and Magnussen.
Now Sainz pops up to the top, only to be beaten by Russell. Elsewhere, Bottas, Hamilton and Norris have had lap times deleted for going off track.

These times are going to change almost constantly if conditions gradually improve with the cars vacuuming up the water. Verstappen is now on top with a 1m35.830s.
Alonso, fastest in the wet FP3, goes second 0.178s off Russell's leading effort.

The first lap times are coming in, with Russell leading the way so far with a 1m36.688s.
To no surprise, all drivers are all the full wets, and conditions look worse now than at any point during FP3 earlier. Very, very wet.
All 20 drivers out on track early in this session to decide the back of the grid. It is soaking wet but each driver will want an early banker just in case yellow or red flags interrupt the running.

Here we go for Q1!
Credit to the fans at the track too, they've not had F1 in Montreal for the last two years due to you-know-what and even though the weather hasn't come to play they are still out in force.

The drivers are undergoing their various last-minute preparation routines, from Bottas being helped into his Alfa Romeo to Lando Norris who was holding two helmets - that'd be a feat to see.
Rain
With 10 minutes to go until the start of Q1, the race control message ticker has declared it a "wet track". Nothing, if not accurate. It can probably add "and a bit chilly" as the air temperature is barely breaking 12C.
