Vettel, satisfied with his pitwall inspection, is now supervising the Aston Martin mechanics with work going on in his cockpit. It looks like a problem with his seat.
It appears Vettel was ready to go for his first run but has been delayed by a late issue. Rather than sit tight in the cockpit, Vettel takes a wander up to the Aston Martin pitwall - perhaps with a post-driving career step in mind?
It is early running so that means an array of aero test runs for most teams. Russell has got the full metal fence panel attached to his Mercedes just ahead of the rear wing. More cutting edge analysis to come.
And now Russell is on track for Mercedes, meaning that is six out of 10 teams up and running already. Norris sets the first timed lap of 1m38.543s but, naturally, that's an early feeler with times set to drop sharply.
Defending F1 world champion Verstappen joins the fun on his first outing at the Bahrain test having seen Perez on Red Bull driver duty yesterday.
