The 19-year-old Oliver Bearman made his full-time Formula 1 debut in 2025 after he impressed many with his 2024 super-sub appearances.
Bearman’s junior career lends itself to his success, with various accolades in karting. In 2021, he became Italian and ADAC F4 champion, before stepping up to Formula 3 in 2022 and took third place in the standings.
He finished 6th in F2 in 2023 and 12th in 2024, having missed two race weekends to compete in F1.
He took three race victories that year, and while his 2024 F2 campaign didn’t set the world alight, he did the talking on track during his three top-flight outings - taking points on his grand prix debut driving for Ferrari as stand-in for Carlos Sainz.
2025 – Haas
13th – 41 points
Having starred with three stand-in outings split across Ferrari and Haas in 2024, Bearman’s rookie F1 campaign was a slow burner.
Crashing in the wet Australian GP was quickly forgiven with points in the next three rounds as Haas turned around a tricky car. A quartet of consecutive 11th-place finishes showed Bearman’s potential which eventually paid off with sixth in the Dutch GP.
Despite moving towards the edge of a race ban on F1 penalty points, Bearman kept his nose clean and produced one of the drives of the season to take fourth in Mexico - having overtaken Max Verstappen no less. Sixth in Brazil at the next round was equally impressive as Bearman beat his experienced, grand prix winning team-mate Esteban Ocon in their first year paired together.
2024 - Ferrari and Haas
18th - 7 points
Bearman stepped in for the appendicitis-struck Carlos Sainz for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian GP, and qualified in 11th and finished seventh, attracting the attention of many around the paddock.
As reserve driver for both Ferrari and Haas that season, Bearman stepped up on two occasions for the American team, replacing Kevin Magnussen - in Azerbaijan while the Dane was serving a race ban, and in Brazil, when he was unwell.
A further points finish in Azerbaijan impressed the Haas team bosses enough to grant him a full-time drive for 2025, teaming up with Esteban Ocon as part of their all-new line-up.
