Vandoorne's switch to Super Formula confirmed
Stoffel Vandoorne will compete in the 2016 Super Formula championship in Japan, Honda has confirmed.
The McLaren reserve driver will drive for Honda-powered Docomo Team Dandelion Racing this year partnering Japanese driver Tomoki Nojiri.
The Belgian replaces Indian Narain Karthikeyan, who raced for the team in 2015. The 23-year-old tweeted his confirmed drive.
The move comes after Vandoorne had tested with the team in November 2015, where engine issues shortened his run to just 20 laps.
As Motorsport.com revealed, the GP2 champion will combine his McLaren reserve role with racing in the Super Formula, which features some of the fastest cars outside Formula 1.
