Motorsport.com revealed last month that a deal for a Hong Kong race, as well as a visit to Australia, was close to being completed as part of an autumn Asia-Pacific leg.

Subject to FIA track homologation, the event will take place on October 9, 2016, using a two-kilometre layout close to the Victoria Harbour.

“The Hong Kong ePrix will be one of the highlights on the FIA Formula E Championship calendar," commented Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag.

"As one of the most innovative, cutting-edge and fun-loving cities in the world, Hong Kong and Formula E share many of the same qualities.

"We look forward to bringing all the fun and entertainment of Formula E to this amazing city, and international motorsport back to Hong Kong.”

The second season of Formula E commences in just over two weeks' time with the Beijing ePrix, which Motorsport.com understands is set to be replaced as the opening round by Montreal for season three.
