Da Costa seals Aguri Formula E seat for season two
Antonio Felix da Costa will undertake a second campaign in the Formula E championship with Team Aguri, Motorsport.com can exclusively reveal.
The winner of last season’s Buenos Aires ePrix has concluded a deal to stay on at the Anglo-Japanese team, which tested several other drivers in the off-season before opting to retain da Costa.
“I am really happy to be returning to Team Aguri and to Formula E for season two,” said the Portuguese driver.
"This championship is earning its respect in the world of motorsport and I honoured to be involved. Regarding the season, I am really looking forward to getting started.
"The team are making big steps forwards and I believe that we have the tools to fight hard and bring home some solid results. I cannot wait for Beijing. I really want to thank the team for having me back.
"It is an indication that I did good things for them last year and so now I want to give them something back also.”
As well as racing for Team Aguri, former Red Bull junior da Costa will continue to race for BMW in the DTM for a third season.
“It is with great pleasure that I welcome Antonio back to the team for season two of Formula E,” said Mark Preston, Team Principal of Aguri.
“Antonio brought us our maiden win in Buenos Aires and helped to develop the team from scratch, he will continue to build on that success for season two and beyond.
"He delivered some very exciting drives in season one and with Team Aguri focusing on reliability and delivering straight out of the box in Beijing, he will be a crucial part of that strategy."
An announcement on the second Team Aguri driver - the final vacant seat on the 2015/16 Formula E grid - is expected shortly.
