Fallows set to exit Aston Martin company after leaving F1 team in 2024

Former Aston Martin Formula 1 technical director Dan Fallows is set to leave the organisation entirely, Motorsport.com has learned.

Fallows joined the Aston Martin F1 team in 2022 to head up its technical department after a long stint at Red Bull, where he also rose to the rank of technical director.

But while Aston Martin made a bright start to 2023, with driver Fernando Alonso claiming six podiums across the first eight races, its progress then stalled as its 2024 car firmly dumped it back into the midfield. 

A disappointing past 18 months, coupled with Aston Martin's capture of Adrian Newey and Enrico Cardile, led to Fallows being relieved from his position last November.

Fallows was handed the role of chief engineer at Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the team's wider technology arm, but Motorsport.com has now learned that the 51-year-old is set to leave the organisation entirely in the near future.

As part of a wider restructuring of Aston Martin's technical staff by incoming CEO Andy Cowell, erstwhile team boss Mike Krack now heads up the role of trackside engineering officer.

Cardile, who has been headhunted from Ferrari as chief technical officer, will take charge of factory-based development when his period of gardening leave ends.

Both Krack and Cardile, who is expected to start this summer, report to Cowell, who has also taken up the role of team principal.

When asked for comment by Motorsport.com, Aston Martin stated Fallows "remains an employee" but declined to further elaborate on the matter.
