That win leaves Hamilton 26 points behind Rosberg with 75 still up for grabs.
It is also his 50th grand prix win, which puts him just one behind Alain Prost.
Hamilton's victory is his first since the German Grand Prix, six races ago.
It's Hamilton's third win in a row in Austin and the fifth for him in the United States.
Perez, Button and Grosjean complete the point-scoring positions.
Alonso fifth from Sainz and Massa.
Vettel comes home fourth for Ferrari.
Rosberg finishes second. Ricciardo is third.

As Vettel posts the fastest lap of the race.
Alonso is through despite going off the track after passing Sainz. The McLaren driver is fifth.
Final lap of the race.
Alonso attacks at Turn 1, but Sainz manages to keep him behind. The McLaren looks faster, though.
Alonso is right behind Sainz now. It will be an intense finish them.
Hamilton has picked up the pace and the six-second gap to Rosberg is now stable.
Two laps to go.

Vettel in the pits. He's switched to supersofts and has kept fourth.
The incident between Alonso and Massa will be investigated after the race.
Rosberg has set the quickest Sector 1.
Three laps remaining.

That has given Sainz a bit of breathing room, but Alonso looks quicker.
The McLaren is through. Both cars are fine.

Hamilton's pace has dropped significantly, meanwhile. His lead over Rosberg is down to 6.5 seconds.
The gap between Sainz, Massa and Alonso is stable. No one is really attacking right now.
