Mexican Grand Prix - Race

Live Text

We'll be wrapping up live on this note, but this is absolutely not over.

Check back with Motorsport.com over the next few hours for post-race reaction from all involved parties.

We promise to censor the (inevitable) bad words.
Vettel, on the podium for the first time since Italy, had some choice words in describing Verstappen to Rosberg there.

He's getting a mixed crowd reception, but not as mixed as Hamilton, strangely enough.
Race control message says "all penalties applied to the timing screens".

Does that mean Sebastian Vettel will be keeping his podium?

That's the Sebastian Vettel who, apart from the "f*** off", also said on the radio that he was "going to hit someone".
Sebastian Vettel now running towards the podium.

Bit unusual.
That demotes the Dutchman to fifth, behind Vettel and Ricciardo.

Verstappen is briefly in the pre-podium room before being informed of his penalty.

He's now telling Hamilton and Rosberg all about it.
Nope, nevermind, we'll have to alter that - five-second penalty for Max Verstappen.
Anyway, back to the actual finishing order - Raikkonen was sixth, ahead of Hulkenberg, Bottas, Massa, Perez.
Vettel wagging his finger at Verstappen on the main straight as they slow down.

What an absolute delight.
We're not 100 percent sure here, but it sounded like Vettel shouted on the radio "A message to Charlie [Whiting], f*** off".
Vettel takes the chequered in fourth, Ricciardo is fifth.
Rosberg brings it home in second, Verstappen takes third - provisionally.
And that's that - Lewis Hamilton wins the 2016 Mexican Grand Prix!
Vettel's defense on Ricciardo, by the way, was absolutely the dictionary definition of moving under braking.
"Move, move, for f**** sake. He is a ****," said Vettel of Verstappen.
Ricciardo locks up hard trying to pass Vettel down the inside.

Somehow, contact is avoided.
Vettel has DRS on Verstappen, Ricciardo has DRS on Vettel.

They're all together now.
And that whole ordeal is under investigation.

But the decision will only come after the race.
Two laps to go.

Ferrari's Maurizio Arrivabene is absolutely livid on the pitwall.
Verstappen probably should give up the position, but he's not doing that.

Ricciardo is right there with them.
"You'll have to give up the position," Verstappen is asked.

"He has to let me go," claims Vettel.
Max Verstappen locks up at Turn 1, defending from Vettel.

He straightlines the corner, Lewis Hamilton-style, and remains ahead.
Contact between Hulkenberg and Raikkonen! The Force India spins while trying to run alongside the Ferrari.
"When will he stop?" Alonso asked.

He's told Palmer does not need to stop.
Vettel officially within DRS range of Verstappen, Ricciardo another three seconds behind.
Alonso and Palmer putting on a fairly entertaining duel for P13.

The Renault on its ancient set of mediums is hanging on for now.
With five laps to go, Vettel is about to get DRS on Verstappen.
Hamilton's 48th lap on his current set of mediums is his fastest of the race so far. He is nine seconds clear of Rosberg and counting.
And how about that, Ricciardo now just six seconds behind Vettel.

He would have very little chance of catching the Ferrari driver if Vettel spent the rest of the day in clean air - but that's looking fairly unlikely.
Lap 63/71:

1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Nico Rosberg +8.459
3. Max Verstappen +11.717
4. Sebastian Vettel +14.255
5. Daniel Ricciardo +21.048
6. Nico Hulkenberg +42.789
7. Kimi Raikkonen +44.113
8. Valtteri Bottas +57.794
9. Felipe Massa +68.477
10. Sergio Perez +69.986
Verstappen's advantage over Vettel now 3.5s as the German went a second quicker that time around.
Button has now passed Palmer for P12 - DRS move, even before the braking into the corner.
