O'Young to race at home

(31 October 2013, Hong Kong) The long awaited home races for Darryl O’Young finally arrive as the 2013 FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) season resumes in Shanghai this weekend with the Race of China. Currently sitting sixth on the Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy with 59 points, the Hong Kong-based race driver hopes to reward home fans with some great performance this weekend.

"It is a great feeling to be coming back home to Shanghai as we near the end of the WTCC season. We have travelled the globe racing this year and the fans in China have been following our season thus far. We now bring the race back to Chinese motorsport fans here in Shanghai and I will try to execute a perfect race weekend for them," said the ROAL Motorsport driver.

Speaking of the famous Shanghai International Circuit, O’Young added the long straight on the back of the circuit will be the weakest point for any BMWs. “We have been struggling with top speed the past year, so it requires a very well balanced car on the rest of the circuit in order to get a good lap time and perform strongly in the race," said the 33-year-old.

On a separate note, Darryl is partnering INTERUSH, his long-term sponsor, for the Race of China. The two have enjoyed immense success over the years including the double independent victory in Macau last year, and also his podium finish at the 24 hours of Le Mans earlier this year.
