The Rallye Monte Carlo ended in dramatic fashion. The season opener was typically marred with unpredictable conditions, making tyre choice a lottery and throwing patches of invisible black ice at the drivers - the 2nd leg especially displayed these conditions. In one stage we lost Carlos Sainz, Mikko Hirvonen and Roman Kresta from the top 10 listings in one go. Marcus Grönholm attempted a hairpin at about 10km/h, too fast on the invisible ice which had him skidding into the barriers...
