WHAT: The Miller Lite 200 Weekend featuring one of the U.S. F2000 National Championship in support of the CART FedEx Championship Series.

WHERE: The 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course is located in Lexington, Ohio, near Mansfield.

WHEN: August 7-8, 1998

RACE LENGTH: 22 laps, 49.676 miles

TELEVISION: The Mid-Ohio race will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on ESPN2, Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. (EDT).

NOTES: • Australian David Besnard easily won the first Mid-Ohio F2000 race this year, at the Road Racing Classic in June, earning the pole and leading flag-to-flag to increase his points lead over Ryan Hampton to 50. In the three races since, Hampton has won two, and cut the lead to 19 with four races remaining.

• Besnard is on pace for a record-setting season. He has already eclipsed the season earnings record with $41,250 (old record, $32,200, Steve Knapp, 1996). With four races remaining, he is also two poles and wins away from tying season records (poles: 7, Knapp, 1996; wins: 7, Chris Simmons, 1993).
