REFLECTING ON POCONO: Starting 36th for the Pennsylvania 500, Benson and the Cheerios racing team were on a mission for the front. Within the first 40 laps Benson was already in eighth running strong. Bad luck struck the team when Benson s Cheerios Ford lost fourth gear on lap 64. Benson was able to remain in the top 25 for 39 more laps when, unfortunately, all the gears had broke. The crew pushed the car back into the garage where they put in a new transmission. With the hard work of the crew Benson was able to get back on track and finish in 33rd. We struggled all weekend, but Steve Hmiel and the guys made a gamble on the setup and it was right on the money. We had come from a long way back and the Cheerios Ford Taurus was running good. It was unfortunate that we lost all the gears because we def initely had a top ten car, said Benson.

INDIANAPOLIS TIME FOR A GOOD RACE

Johnny Benson and the Cheerios racing team are off to Indiana for the Brickyard 400. Bad luck has been plaguing the team lately, so Johnny Benson and his crew are hoping for a great race. We tested in Indiana a couple of weeks ago and our car was running well. A great finish is what we need right now. We had bad luck again last weekend, so this weekend we are hoping luck will go our way, said Benson. The Brickyard 400 will start Saturday, August 1st at noon on ABC.
