The first official trailer for The Kaiser, an upcoming film based on the early career and Formula 1 debut of Michael Schumacher, has been released.

According to the official website for the upcoming film, which is produced by Grey Universe Ltd. alongside partners B2Y Productions, NFK and A1, it will focus on the pressure leading up to the German driver's debut in the championship.

The trailer makes a point of confirming that it was "created using traditional filmmaking techniques. No generative AI was used."

"The Kaiser is a cinematic short film that tells the untold story of Michael Schumacher’s rise — from his breakthrough debut in 1991 to the defining moments that shaped a legend," the caption read.

"Shot with a bold, cinematic approach and driven by a commitment to authenticity, the film brings one of motorsport’s greatest stories to life in a way never seen before.

"Created as a proof of concept for a future feature film, The Kaiser blends real historical events with immersive storytelling, capturing the intensity, pressure, and humanity behind the helmet."

Starring as Schumacher is Jivko Sirakov. He is joined by Kristo Stoichkov, who will portray Ayrton Senna, Dimiter D. Marinov as Eddie Jordan, Raymond Steers as Willi Weber and Viktoria Antonova as Corinna Schumacher.

The seven-time champion made his F1 debut at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix with Jordan as the replacement for Bertrand Gachot. He qualified seventh but unfortunately retired from the race on the opening lap due to clutch issues.

After impressing on his debut, despite the race retirement, he signed with Benetton. While he had an agreement in principle to race with Jordan for the remainder of the season, the contract had not been signed so the Eddie Jordan-owned team was unsuccessful in seeking an injunction to prevent the move for the German driver.

Schumacher continued to race in the series until the end of 2006 when he retired for the first time. He returned in 2010 with Mercedes and retired for the second time at the end of 2012. Over his career, he secured seven championship titles, 91 race wins, 155 podium finishes, 68 pole positions and 77 fastest laps.
