Massa: No danger of Monaco repeat

A combination of track layout and surface, car characteristics and tyre behaviour meant that Massa and teammate Valtteri Bottas endured a weekend to forget.

And rather than their form being a sign of Williams having fallen away, Massa is adamant that not only will the Grove-based team be back on form at the next races, it could actually make a step forward from where it had been before.

"I think what has happened this weekend will not happen again," he said.

"I think maybe this is the worst track for us and I am pretty convinced that our car can work much better in the most of the tracks, especially the next tracks.

"I think our car can be quite strong so I am looking forward to that."

Updates lift spirits

As well as F1 heading to tracks in Canada and Austria that should suit the high-speed strengths of Williams better, planned upgrades should deliver more speed as well.

"I am very confident for Canada, I am very confident for Australia, even for Silverstone," explained Massa.

"We are going to good tracks for us, so I am sure we can forget what happened here. I think we can be even stronger on these tracks maybe compared to what we have been doing up until now."

He added: "I don't know how much new pieces we will have for Canada, but for sure for Austria we will have quite a big step. So we will wait and see.

"I think there will be some good steps for our car, maybe the biggest step we did in the season.

"I am sure many people brought a lot of new pieces for Barcelona and we couldn't, so maybe our best is coming a little bit later, and should be between Canada and Austria I think."
