Lewis Hamilton surprised fans ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix as he arrived at a Yokohama car meet in a Ferrari F40.
The Ferrari F40, estimated to be worth £4million, pulled up beside a Subaru Impreza and a Honda NSX sporting a wide bodykit at the Daikoku Parking Area in Yokohama. The iconic car was the last to be personally approved by Enzo Ferrari and it features a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
“I love going through the city," the seven-time champion told Sky Sports F1.
"And there's always something new to learn. I love the gaming culture. Growing up with Nintendo, Sega and PlayStation, these all so heavily impacted my life. All the sounds from like Nintendo for example, there's so many elements of the culture that have been important to me and then as I come here I'm trying to learn more about it and experience some of it."
Hamilton also used his time ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix to take a samurai lesson with the artist who choreographed the Kill Bill fighting scenes.
"I love the movie Kill Bill, and this time I went and had this experience, which was incredible. It was one of the coolest experiences I ever had, and getting to wield a sword and learn some of the moves.
"One of my dreams is actually to have a samurai sword, from the movie actually. I've been trying to figure out who makes them like that, but I think it's just got a lot to offer, Japan.
"There are many places I think I would like to live for a period of time in the world. This is definitely one of them. I've always loved the culture in Japan and I know they love car culture as well, and I used to play Gran Turismo a lot, and I love that.
"So that's why I've used some of their kind of classics, like the Nissan GTR Skyline was one of my favourite cars. So to mess around with that, but to drive an F40 around town. And I asked if they could get a meet-up cause I've seen it online, and it was cool to see some people turn up.
"People definitely weren't expecting me in an F40. I love that car."
