Have your say on the new JAonF1.com comments system

The JAonF1 team is pleased to announce that we have implemented a new comment system onto the site, which should make your experience here more enjoyable.

Regular users will know that this is one of the most interactive sites in F1, with readers leaving 120,000 comments a year (more than 2,500 a week on average). The informed discussion between readers (most of the time) is one of the most valued features of the site. Comments are tightly moderated to ensure high quality discussion.

We have experimented with several arrangements for comments in recent times and have had some problems with comments vanishing, which we hope we have rectified. We have beta tested several possible systems, now we are live testing the this one.

We have now settled on the latest structure based on our careful analysis of comments and feedback left by users.

Among other notable features, the new arrangement uses a star system for each user based on how interactive they have been in their history leaving comments on the site. You have to have left (and cleared moderation) thousands to get a five star rating.

The most prolific users will be awarded a higher star rating and these will automatically increase alongside future interaction to a maximum of five stars.

JAonF1 users will still be able to reply directly to each comment and can now share posts for the first time.

A new way to rate each comment has also been implemented in the new system, which involves up-voting the best comments, but down-voting has been removed following negative feedback from readers.
