Hamilton fastest in pre-qualifying practice

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time of the third practice session at Singapore, pushing Sebastian Vettel down to second place. Nico Rosberg was third.

It looks like being a very competitive qualifying session this evening, with McLaren, Red Bull and Williams all looking strong, while BMW seem to have made a big step with their heavily revised car.

There is some work to be done at Brawn. Yesterday the car seemed to be working well but they made some changes in the third practice and Jenson Button radioed his engineer at the end of the session to say that they had taken the wrong direction on set-up.

He was finding that the car had very little grip. He ended up down in 14th place.

The Ferraris seem to have fallen behind the cars which have major updates here, Raikkonen had a messy session with an off track excursion but even with a clear run on softer tyres at the end finished 12th, while Giancarlo Fisichella was last.

Mercedes seem once again to be providing their teams with an advantage; four of the first five cars through the speed trap were Mercedes powered.
