FIA publishes F1 2017 entry list
Formula 1’s 2017 entry list has finally been published by the FIA, with just four race seats needing to be filled.
Although teams lodged their entries for next year several weeks ago, Mercedes has already altered its details with Nico Rosberg being absent following the decision he made last week to retire.
The other seats up for grabs are the second seat at Sauber alongside Marcus Ericsson, and both cockpits at Manor. Teams have until the eve of the season-opener in March to nominate their drivers.
The only other point of interest is that Toro Rosso has not officially nominated the name of the Renault powerunits that it will be using next season.
Following the fallout between Red Bull’s teams and the French car manufacturer in 2015, a deal was made for the powerunits to be rebranded as TAG Heuer for the main team – and it is likely Toro Rosso will also not use the Renault name.
The entry list also confirms 2017 rookies Stoffel Vandoorne and Lance Stroll will race with numbers 2 and 18 respectively.
