Alonso quickest in Montreal
Ferrari took the quickest lap in today's practice session, but only by a hair as much of the field showed a lot of promise heading into tomorrow's qualifying session.
On-track action at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal has ended for the drivers of Formula One, and the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso ended up on top.
After a soaking wet first practice session, drivers were able to bolt on dry weather tyres and put their cars to the test. With that, Spaniard Alonso topped the charts with a lap of 1:14.818.
"The only certainty is that we must ensure we make the right decisions, because today we saw how getting a clean lap depends a lot on the time you make the decision and what track conditions are like at that moment," said Alonso.
Not far in arrears was Englishman Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes Machine with a 1:14.830. The top five was rounded out by Romain Grosjean in a Lotus Renault, Mark Webber in his Red Bull Racing machine and Nico Rosberg in a Mercedes.
Hamilton commented: "Hopefully it will be dry for qualifying tomorrow and we can have a strong day."
Force India, who has had some success at the Canadian Grand Prix in the fast only had one driver in the top ten, as Adrian Sutil was a little over half a second off the pace to hold on to 8th overall by sessions end.
Qualifying is slated for tomorrow afternoon, and according to Weather Canada, there is a 40 per cent chance of rain.
