And so concludes Friday practice from Azerbaijan! Thanks for joining us, and we'll bring you all of the reaction across Autosport and Motorsport.com over the rest of the day.

Don't forget to join us again tomorrow for FP3 and qualifying in Baku!

Friday practice complete!

That's all for FP2 - and Lewis Hamilton ends with the fastest time, a 1m41.293s.

He's 0.074s ahead of Charles Leclerc as Russell, Antonelli, Bearman, Verstappen, Lawson, Ocon, Albon, and Norris complete the top 10.

Everyone except Norris is on the road, with a mix of hards, softs, and mediums all being explored.

Leclerc had an off at the Turn 4 run-off, as he didn't get the front-end bite into the right-hander, but at least he avoided the wall.

Bearman's in the Turn 8 run-off again, as Verstappen bursts onto that particular scene and avoids the reversing Haas.

The long-runs have started, but they won't be particularly long long-runs...

Hamilton posts a 1m41.293s on softs, so he now sweeps to the top ahead of Leclerc.

Leclerc had gone out to help his team-mate with a tow into Turn 1, so it looks like Ferrari is trying something out for qualifying.

Antonelli goes fourth, while Russell sets the best first sector but aborts his lap. He's weaving around to check the suspension is intact, having hit the barrier at Turn 12.

Norris' car is up on the jacks, and the mechanics are underneath taking the floor off. He'll surely not take any further part in the session.

Antonelli is currently on a lap, hoping to move into the top 10 in the FP2 order...

Another moment for Piastri, who has a Turn 2 lock-up. Heart-in-mouth stuff chez McLaren.

Bearman's got himself up to fourth on mediums, as Russell wen third on his soft-tyre run. Verstappen, Lawson, Ocon, Albon, Norris, and Sainz complete the top 10 thus far.

When the heat is on, this is what we expect from Baku. The McLaren drivers' fortunes demonstrate how the slightest step out of line from the rear end could spell trouble.

Colapinto brushed the T15 Tecpro too, but did little beyond scraping more advertising hoarding off of it.

Piastri's had a moment too - he's brushed the Turn 15 Tecpro barrier and backed out of his lap. After a brief checkover in the pits, he's back on track.

Leclerc makes it through cleanly and, with a purple first sector, does a 1m41.367s to go top.

Norris has made it around to the pitlane entry now. Amid the replays, Albon has fired his way up to third place - although Verstappen has just nipped past on a 1m41.936s.

Otherwise, sporadic yellow flags have rather hindered improvements elsewhere.

Norris hits the wall! The McLaren driver lost the rear at Turn 4, knocked his rear left against the wall, and he's now slowly crabbing his way back to the pitlane.

That'll be terminal for this session - and it'll require suspension changes if nothing else.

The pitlane is abuzz with cars being released from the garages once again. Predominantly, there's a clutch of the soft tyres being used, although Lawson, Tsunoda, Gasly, and Bearman are trying out some mediums for their quali sims.

Hamilton sets a 1m41.543s on the mediums, so he sits atop the times as the session enters a bit of a lull.

We might get the quick runs shortly - but on what tyres?

Read Also:

Norris was 0.4s up on Leclerc by the end of the second sector, but peeled into the pits rather than clock it. There'll be more opportunities to turn the wick up later in the session.

Hamilton's finding a fair lick of pace on his latest lap.

Leclerc gets a nice tow on his latest tour to set a 1m41.786s, while the medium-shod Hamilton sets a time - sans two - 0.152s shy of his team-mate.

On Leclerc's lap, there was a little slide at Turn 3 and a slight nudge of the exit wall - he's lucky he wasn't a millimetre further to the right there.

A brief yellow as Bearman explores the lesser-charted Turn 8 run-off after passing a slow Alpine.

Since that's the bit before the castle, you don't want to get tangled up there...

Russell goes fastest with a 1m42.959s, but that lasts about a second when Bortoleto does a 1m42.561s.

Leclerc then posts a 1m42.207s, which is subsequently overturned by Norris' 1m42.199s.

Some offs already - Lawson and Hamilton have both had lock-ups; Hamilton did his at Turn 7, which is very rare - you don't see it happen often at that corner.

Verstappen goes fastest with a 1m43.226s.

We've got pretty much the entire field on the road now, bar Norris and Russell.

Hulkenberg opens with a 1m44.218s, two-tenths clear of Bortoleto, before Piastri lays down a 1m43.307s on the softs.

Ah, here we go - Hulkenberg and Bortoleto open the session. Mediums for the Saubers, plus Ocon, as Lawson, Piastri, and Alonso start off with a set of softs.

FP2 is go!

And it begins...sort of. No takers for the circuit just yet, as the drivers sit tight in the cockpit.

Anyone fancy getting the ball rolling? No? Okay...

Just a couple more minutes to go until we get the green light - and we'll be up and running. I know you're very excited for the FP2 run-through - wouldn't get this with a sprint weekend!

FP2 should be underway in about 15 minutes' time and, since running was curtailed by that kerb issue in FP1, there's likely still a few run-plans to go through.

Any red flags, then, might not be a welcome sight for the teams - but it is Baku after all.

FP1 recap

McLaren's Lando Norris topped Friday's curtailed first practice, heading team-mate Oscar Piastri and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in a two-part session that saw a lengthy interruption for kerb issues.

Championship leader Piastri soon had to halt his run plan due to power unit issues on his McLaren MCL39, although did not lose much time versus the other drivers.

The red flag came out after 13 minutes for a piece of kerb coming loose on the exit of the final corner, which caused a lengthy stoppage as marshals worked to resolve the issue. The session was only restarted with 21 minutes left on the clock, where Piastri could get going again.
