Harold Primat press release
ASTON MARTIN RACING DRIVER HAROLD PRIMAT COMPLETES AUTOSPORT 6 HOURS OF SILVERSTONE
Aston Martin Racing driver Harold Primat yesterday completed the Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone in the DBR1-2 LMP1; recording a ninth place finish in the iconic ‘007’ car.
During Saturday’s tricky qualifying session, Harold’s team mate, Adrian Fernandez, recorded the twelfth fastest time; clocking a 1m52.151s. With heavy rain threatening the twenty five minute session, the team made the strategic call to send Adrian out early on slick tyres which allowed him to successfully post a solid lap time before the heavens opened.
Sunday’s race at the iconic British circuit was off at 11.30am local time and, in the hands of Primat’s team mate, Christian Klien, the 007 car was already up to eighth place by the end of the first hour as he expertly carved his way through the field.
After two hours of racing, Christian had battled hard and moved up through the pack to P5. He then headed into the pits to allow his team mate Adrian Fernandez take to the wheel.
Ninety minutes later and with the car running in eighth position, it was Harold’s turn to take his stint. He pushed on through the field and successfully moved up to P7. However, heading into the Becketts corner a GT car made contact with the side of Harold’s 007 car and resulted in a puncture to one of the tyres. Harold was forced to head into the pits and the Aston Martin Racing team made a quick change of the damaged wheel and tyre allowing the Swiss driver to rejoin the track in P11.
After almost five hours of racing, Christian Klien took over from Harold for final stint of the race. Continuing to run strongly, the 007 car moved up to tenth position with 45 minutes left on the clock before eventually crossing the line in ninth place.
“We have had a solid weekend of racing at Silverstone. The car has run well and reliably all weekend and we can now turn our focus to the next race on the calendar at Laguna Seca. We head there on Tuesday for some more testing which will be an opportunity for us to get some more track time in the DBR1-2 LMP1 ahead of the race on the 17th;” commented Harold Primat.
“It is great to be back racing with my team mates Adrian and Christian at Aston Martin Racing. The whole team gets on incredibly well and it’s been a real team effort this weekend. We will all be doing our best to build on today’s result at Laguna Seca next weekend for the next round of the American Le Mans Series;” continued Primat.
