A word from... Nico Müller
Directly from Formula Renault 3.5, Nico Muller is debuting this year in the Audi Sport Team Rosberg during the DTM tests in Hungary.
You made a strong impression on your debut for Audi Sport Team Rosberg during the DTM tests in Hungary: of all the Audi drivers you completed the most laps and even set the days fastest time on Tuesday and were even second fastest overall. How would you sum this up?
Positive. I felt very comfortable from the very first laps in the Audi RS 5 DTM. It was important for me to see, because I was confronted by a lot of new things. In general, the test in Budapest also went extremely well for Audi, we were able to work through our test program. We now have to make sure we implement everything weve learnt throughout the season. You drove on consecutive days on Tuesday and Wednesday and completed 277 laps. Was this strenuous? The Hungaroring track is physically strenuous, because one corner runs into the next and you only actually have on straight to take a quick breather. The track is also mentally demanding because your concentration level has to be at its maximum for an entire lap. From this point of view strenuous but in a nice way.
It was the first test for you in Audi Sport Team Rosberg and together with Jamie Green. How were you welcomed by your new team and by your team mates? Very well! I didnt just feel at home immediately in the car, but also in my team. Working together with my engineer and teams worked exceptionally well. They did a top job, we didnt have a single technical problem with the car. It was a great start to a hopefully successful season.
What was the most important discovery you made at the test in Hungary? There really is a huge amount of knowledge. I was able to collect so many new impressions. And I need one or two days to full digest everything I learnt. There were so many new things. Its not so easy to name one specific aspect. But the most important finding was certainly being able to experience how the work in the new team functions. Audi Sport Team Rosberg and Audi Sport are significantly bigger that the teams I have previously driven for. It was impressive to experience this live for the first time.
