At the halfway point, Toyota #6 of Kobayashi leads Porsche #2 of Dumas by 45s – a bit misleading as they're on different pitstop sequences.
Toyota #5 is third, with Davidson now at the wheel, ahead of the #8 Audi of Jarvis, which is two laps down.
In LMP2 it's a great battle between the #36 Signatech Alpine and the #46 Thiriet by TDS Oreca. The #26 G-Drive is also in the mix.
In GTE Pro, Malucelli leads in the Risi Ferrari, 45s clear of Briscoe in the #69 Ford GT.
In GTE Am we have a tense tussle between the #88 Abu Dhabi-Proton Porsche of Al Qubaisi and the #62 Scuderia Corsa of Bell.
Mechanical problem
Fassler brings the hobbled #7 Audi back to the pits.

Townsend Bell, who drove so well in the Indy 500 this year, is doing a similarly stellar job in the #62 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari. He is carving into the Abu Dhabi-Proton Porsche's GTE Am lead.
The #97 Aston passes the #64 Corvette for fifth in GTE Pro.
Bell's Ferrari is 4s behind the GTE Am-leading Porsche. Surely a forgone conclusion soon?
Bell sails past the #88 Porsche as expected, so Ferrari now leads GTE Am.

Penalty
Oh dear, a 60-sec stop/go penalty for the #26 G-Drive for speeding in a slow zone – just as it was coming back into play for the lead fight.
A shame because the top three in LMP2 were covered by 38s.

Let's recap: Dumas leads in #2 Porsche by 27s from Kobayashi in the #6 Toyota. Davidson is third in Toyota #5, almost two minutes back.
Right now, the pendulum is swinging back towards Porsche. But it's totally in the balance over these next 11 hours.

Virtually the same gap in GTE Pro between the #82 Ferrari and #69 Ford GT.
Penalty
Race Control announces a 60s stop-go penalty for the #98 Aston.
The LMP2 battle has really fizzled out, with the #26's penalty and the #46 dropping behind the #36 by 1m36s.
The GTE Pro gap between the #82 Ferrari and #69 Ford is 45s, as is the gap in GTE Am between the #62 Ferrari and #88 Porsche.

At the front, Lieb has got the lead down to 42s. So even though the Toyota is going further on fuel mileage, the Porsche's latent pace in keeping it well within reach.
Even if Ferrari goes on to win GTE Pro with the #82 Risi car, it's been quite a disastrous Le Mans for the works WEC AF Corse cars. At least the #51 is still going, but 12 laps off the class lead.

Lapierre rejoins, he is being chased by Hirakawa in the #46 Thiriet by TDS Oreca. He was pretty swift earlier, so it should be a good fight over this stint.

Lieb is pounding Kobayashi in the darkness. The gap between the leading #6 Toyota and the chasing #2 Porsche is 27s.

Davidson, in the #5 Toyota, is within 70s of the lead for the first time in a long time.
The leading Toyota is back into the 3m24s this lap after dropping four-odd seconds to the #2 Porsche last time around.

Suddenly the gap between the leaders in LMP2 is 3s! Hirakawa is on another charge – he's been very impressive today. Lapierre is no slouch around here.
