Rapax Team press release
The Rapax team completed its 2011 season today with the running of Race 2 of a non-points GP2 Series event at the Abu Dhabi circuit. Dani Clos completed a sensational comeback from the rear of the pack as he moved up from 26th place to 9th. Despite the ill-fated race 1, his car proved equally fast. Mihai Marinescu ended up off-track at lap 11. The car suffered from severe damage, although the Romanian racer exited from the driver's compartment unscattered. After having collected some valuable data in post-season testing and in the Emirates, will be continue the planning for the next season. Cars will be back on-track for a round of collective testing on the next February.
“My start has been good though it has been pretty difficult to overtake because of the fighting going on in front of me. I really had fun because I had a really fast pace and each time I passed someone I kept catching up with the next car really quickly. While everybody was struggling for grip in the closing stages, I still had some margin. Unfortunately the race's distance ended too fast!"
“I got some positions back at the start, but it hasn't been easy to try and pass in the first few laps. Shortly after, one of the cars I had in front spun and I had to go through the runoff are to avoid making contact. Then at lap 11 I ended up off-track, hitting the wall twice on the right side. It's been a real pity, because my goal was to log as many kilometers as possible and avoid any type of mistakes".
